In the late spring of 1885, Henry Mercer -- eccentric, archaeologist, collector of pre-industrial tools and implements, and founder of the Mercer Museum and the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works journeyed to see the ancient Indian carvings on the rocks in the Susquehanna River at Safe Harbor, PA. In this presentation, local rock art researcher Paul Nevin uses Mercer's journal entries as a backdrop to guide you through a tour and explanation of the sites on the lower Susquehanna that quite possibly comprise the largest concentration of Native American rock art in the northeast United States.
