YORK HIKING CLUB ANNOUNCEMENTS:

We welcome four new members who have completed their required 30 miles:

Lori Cooper-Ott, Jan and Ana Gipe, and Edwin Johnson.

Dues reminder: In lieu of raising dues, we will continue with the 3 contribution levels in the hope that those able would contribute more and help eliminate the negative balance (as a general reminder, annual dues become payable as of October 1st). All three levels provide full membership, this is just one of many ways members can contribute to the club. Make your check payable to York Hiking Club for $10 for Hiker (base level), $15 for Trailblazer, $20 for Pathfinder, or more if you wish, and mail it to Bernie Frick or pay at JPJ before the Turkey Dinner.

JUNE BOARD MEETING: At the July 28, 2008 meeting the YHC Board passed a resolution raising the carpool contribution from $.07 to $.10 per mile. This will be effective starting October 1, 2008.

Phyllis Morley would like to remind all hike leaders to forward the sign-up sheet to her so that all the new hikers will get the correct credit for the 30 miles for membership. If you are a guest and feel you have met your 30 miles, but have not been mentioned in the newsletter please contact Phyllis Morley at (717) 764-6822.

Every Thursday a group meets to do trail work. Contact Jim Hooper for location and time (717)-252-3784.

Any hike leader who has maps (topo, hand drawn, or otherwise) of past hikes they have led are asked to send a copy to Tim Schmidt, president

Tim has volunteered to maintain a catalog of hikes to be shared with future hike leaders who are looking for suggestions of where to hike. Thanks!

Reminder, anyone wishing to receive their newsletter by e-mail instead of by postal mail (we have saved postage costs keeping dues down), please forward your e-mail address to Bernie Frick to sign up.

BE COOL! - Sport a York Hiking Club license plate on your car.  Cost $5.  Contact Tim S. at (717) 235-5940.   and ask for details.

Please volunteer to lead a hike or two for this year's schedule.

* "If there are no objections within 10 days" refers to things like almost getting a hike kicked out of a park.

Our new place for meetings/events  is inside the York Township Recreation Building, directions as follows:

From I-83 exit 16, take Queen St (PA-74) south for about 1 mile.  At Campbell Music, turn left onto Oak St.  Drive about a tenth of a mile and stop at the stop sign; do not turn right.  Drive straight ahead past the township building to the small building in the middle of the field.
