APRIL 30, CANOE/KAYAK TRIP: This is a joint trip with the Conewago Canoe Club. It will take place on a local stream and will be moving water, riffles, and maybe Class I rapids. Good trip for beginners and intermediate paddlers. No children under the age of 12 yrs. The stream and length of the trip will be chosen in the week before the trip when water conditions are better known. There will be a safety lesson at the beginning of the trip. Life jackets/PFDs must be worn at all times….no exceptions. Trip is suitable for all plastic/ABS and aluminum canoes and whitewater, touring, and recreational kayaks (fiberglass boats are not a great idea as there will be some rocks; sea kayaks may be too long). Please wear synthetic material or wool clothing (not cotton because of hypothermia potential if you get wet) and water shoes with socks (no rubber boots that will fill up with water). Bring lunch, water, an extra paddle, bailer, and dry bag with extra clothing. If it will upset you to lose or damage something (electronics, watch, etc.), do not bring it in the boat. Fasten eyeglasses with a string. Call or e-mail Deborah if you are interested and you will be notified when the trip is finalized. 717-235-2671,
.

You get to choose the distance and location. The time and place is also up to you. If someone would like to lead a longer hike that’s fine. Our intent is to provide hikes for our more mature members who can no longer do the miles. If you would like to volunteer please call Allen Britton (717) 741-0624,

E-mail Addresses: A lot of communicating for our club is done by e-mail, and it would be very nice to have more e-mail addresses available. I would like to get a list together of members who are willing to share their e-mail addresses with the club. If you are willing to have us use your address, please send it to my e-mail
. I will make a list that can be distributed at the time we send out the log book. If you have a change of e-mail or phone number, they should be sent to me also. Thanks, Phyllis (Membership Chair).
