A welcome sheet is handed out at every hike.  This sheet has all you need to join and get on the mailing list.

August 5 - Short Hike: No hike leader. 


Long Hike: About 10 miles in State Game Lands above Harrisburg. Old Stage Trail to Rausch Gap Shelter, back by old rail road grade and Gold Mine Rd. Bring plenty of water, lunch, and hiking shoes. Meet at the North End meeting place next to Rutter's Store at 8:30 AM. Hike fee $5.00. Contact Bernie Frick at 717-843-6675 with questions.

August 12 - Medium Hike: 5 miles on the Mason Dixon trail series. Between State Game Lands 181 and the John Paul Jones Cabin near Otter Creek. Bring good hiking boots, snacks. Be prepared for summer conditions…. bring plenty of water, bug spray and sun screen. An optional ice cream stop will be planned. Meet at the Vo-Tec (York County High School of Technology) at 9:00 AM. Hike fee is $4.00. Hike leader Skip Newcomer (717) 285-0146.

August 19 - JPJ Work Day: Come out and help with the upkeep of the JPJ Cabin .Jobs available for everyone inside and out. Wear old clothes and bring lunch. Meet at JPJ at 9:30 AM

August 26- Medium Hike: Medium hike of about 7 miles along the scenic Gunpowder River in Maryland. The hike starts and ends at Bunker Hill. This is mainly a circle hike traveling to Pretty Boy Dam, but will repeat short sections. Many hills, short but some steep, and slippery rocks. Need hike boots, water, lunch or snack. Meet Vo-Tec (York County High School of Technology) lot 8:30 AM. Hike leader: Kim Jones (717) 637-7103 or . Car fee: 2.50$

August 26 - Long Hike - MDTS - Mason Dixon Trail from River Road at Lock 15 to Cold Cabin Park. 10.5 miles consisting of 6 miles of road walking and 4.5 miles on trail. Meet at Vo-Tec (York County High School of Technology) at 8:30 AM. Bring boots, lunch and water, and maybe a pair of sneakers for the road walking. Leader: Pat Yale 717-456-5973. Hike fee $4.00.Volunteer needed to meet hikers at Vo-Tech and caravan to meet hike leader at Paper Mill Road and Rt. 74. Please call to volunteer.

* "If there are no objections within 10 days" refers to things like almost getting a hike kicked out of a park.

  From I-83 exit 16, take Queen St (PA-74) south for about 1 mile.  At Campbell Music, turn left onto Oak St.  Drive about a tenth of a mile and stop at the stop sign; do not turn right.  Drive straight ahead past the township building to the small building in the middle of the field.
