work trips, special events and announcements.
All are welcome to come on out on a hike to see what the club is all about.
A welcome sheet is handed out at every hike. This sheet has all you need to join and get on the mailing list.

August 3 Short Hike - In conjunction of the celebration of Shank’s Mare’s 30th Anniversary, this will be a hike on the Mason Dixon Trail leaving from Shank’s Mare and going south on the trail. The plan is to hike about 6 miles total, depending on the group. It will be a simple out and back, but taking in the some river hills and views. Be sure to bring water and foot ware suitable for going over rocks. We will meet at the parking lot at the Galleria Mall,
Boscov's East Parking at 1:00 PM to carpool. Or, if you prefer, just meet the group at
Shank’s Mare at 1:30.

Shanks Mare invites you to attend other activities over the weekend such as a "porch show" and "outdoor stations". York Hiking Club and Mason Dixon Trails will be among the exhibits open Saturday, August 2nd, from 10 to 4 and Sunday, August 3rd from 12-4. August 16 (Saturday) JPJ Work Day - Come out and help with cleaning, fixing, and improving JPJ cabin and grounds. Plenty of outside and inside work for all. August 17 Short Hike - Lake Williams 5 miles. Unlike mad dogs and Englishmen this hike will begin at 8:30 AM. Meet at the
Vo-Tec (York
County High School of Technology) parking lot, bring plenty of water!!!

Medium to Long Hike - Caledonia State Park, Quarry Gap circuit hike. This is a moderate 7.1 miles using part of the AT and part park trails, total elevation gain 1200 ft-400 ft in 0.5 miles. Hike along a stream surrounded by rhododendron thickets and hemlocks in Dark Hollow. Always an option to add a few miles/trails while at Caledonia at end of hike. Meet

August 23 KTA Mega- Hike- Cancelled
August 24 Medium Hike - Meet at 1:30 PM Boscov's
East Parking area (East lot of the Galleria Mall near the ‘Road House’) or at the hike start for a 4-5 mile, "out and back" hike on the Mason Dixon Trail from Wrightsville to Highpoint Scenic Area. Through Murphey’s Hollow with some grades and one short stream walk. An ice cream stop is planned. Bring boots, snacks, plenty of water - water shoes if you like.

LOOKING TO SEPTEMBER:
Sept 1 - Labor Day Picnic & Hike at JPJ Cabin. Cooks, hike leader needed. Hike leaders also needed for Sept 7 & 21: Short and long hikes and Sept 28 Medium hike. Contact Sept Activities Chairperson Joyce Hooper at (717) 252-3784 before August 15 to help.
