SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 2 – LONG HIKE (10 MILES): We will loop hike the Lakeside Trail around Pinchot Park. Starting at the Conewago Day Use Are (40.0713-76.8883). It’s relatively flat but can be muddy in places. Recommend sturdy trail shoes or hiking boots. Bring a lunch, snacks and water. Please contact hike leader if planning on meeting at the alternate meeting location.

Meeting Location: Park & Ride parking lot off I83 at the Emigsville exit North End meeting place Exit 24 route 83 Park and ride Lot N/E Corner Departure Time: 8:00 AM Carpool Fee: $2.00
Alternate Meeting Place: Conewago Day Use Are at Rental Bldg/Bathrooms. Departure Time: 9:00 AM

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 9 - LONG HIKE (11 MILES): We’ll use the Knauber, Water Tank, Rattling Run, Horse-Shoe and Appalachian Trails to find the Stony Mountain Lookout Tower and the Devil's Racecourse. This is a long boulder field and at times, Rattling Run Creek can be heard flowing beneath this river of rocks. This hike will involve multiple steep climbs and lots and lots of rocks. Bring good hiking shoes/boots, snacks, lunch, and water. Gloves may be helpful if you wish to explore the boulder field.

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 10 - CHILI HIKE/SHORT HIKE: At 11 a.m. Bob Falsetti will lead a 3-4 mile hike starting from JPJ, returning in time for a chili dinner at 1:30 p.m. Call Julie Falsetti at (717) 854-3437, or email by 9:00 p.m. Thursday, February 7 to make meal reservations which once made must be paid. Meal cost is $4 plus $1 cabin use fee for members and $2.00 for non-members.
Meeting Location: JPJ Cabin, 1145 Furnace Rd, Airville, PA 17302

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 17 – SHORT HIKE (5 MILES): Approximately 5 miles around Rocky Ridge Park. Bring water and snack, if you wish. Wear good walking shoes or hiking boots. 

Meeting Location: Meet at the first parking lot on the left at Rocky Ridge Departure Time: 1:30 PM

SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 23 – SHORT HIKE (6 MILES): Loop hike around Lake Williams with a few moderate climbs. We could see the eagles as we pass by their nest! Bring good boots and water.

Meeting Location: York County High School of Technology (Vo-Tec) Departure Time: 1:00 PM

SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 24 – MEDIUM HIKE (9 MILES): Weiser State Forest Haldeman Tract (known for its hang glider site) on Broad Mountain, northeast of Halifax. The hike will be mostly on snowmobile trails making for easy walking, with a long gradual climb of about 700 ft. at the start to warm us up & a long gradual descent of 800 ft. at the end. Please bring good boots, water, & lunch. IF THIS HIKE SHOULD EXCEED 20 PARTICIPANTS, WE WILL SPLIT INTO TWO GROUPS.

Hike Leaders Wanted: We are so thankful for all of our hike leaders and were fortunate to add several new hike leaders this year. We are always in need of additional new hike leaders, so please consider leading a hike or two in 2019. Please contact David Lukes at if you would like to start leading hikes for the club. Training will be provided.

Individuals who are willing to lead short hikes on Wednesdays area also wanted. If you would like to lead a Family Friendly hike on Saturday or Sunday please contact the monthly chairperson. A short hike is recommended. Contact David Lukes with any questions about leading hikes at

* "If there are no objections within 10 days" refers to things like almost getting a hike kicked out of a park.

A sheet is handed out to all New hikers at the parking lots before the hikes.

 

Our new place for meetings/events  is inside the York Township Recreation Building, directions as follows:

  From I-83 exit 16, take Queen St (PA-74) south for about 1 mile.  At Campbell Music, turn left onto Oak St.  Drive about a tenth of a mile and stop at the stop sign; do not turn right.  Drive straight ahead past the township building to the small building in the middle of the field.
