A welcome sheet is handed out at every hike.  This sheet has all you need to join and get on the mailing list.

May 4-6 Away Weekend - Leave York on Friday, hike part of the Susquehannock Trail on Saturday and Sunday and stay in a bed and breakfast. Return Sunday. All the rooms are taken, but there could be cancellations. Contact Jim and Joyce Hooper 252-3784 to get on the waiting list. 

May 5 Short Hike - Around Lake Williams  about 5 miles. Meet at
Vo-Tech at 1:00 PM. Bring water and sturdy shoes. Car Pool fee: $1. Hike leaders Bob and Julie Falsetti (717-854-3437).

May 5 Medium Hike - Approximately 5-8 miles on the Rail Trail in southern York County. Meet at York County School of Technology (
Vo-Tech) at 1:00 PM. Bring water and sturdy shoes. Car Pool fee $1.50. Hike Leader: Jim Trautman (717) 846-1665.

May 13 AT Work Trip - Work on the AT near Peters Mountain. All talent levels needed. Leave
North End meeting place next to Rutter's Store at 8:30 AM. No fee. Bring boots, water, lunch and work gloves. Call Jim Hooper, 717-252-3784 if you have questions.

MAY 20 - Medium Hike - Come out for a six-mile hike through North Codorus Township. We will be hiking on paved and gravel roads. Our hike will take us through woods and over Codorus Creek and another stream. Wear good shoes and bring water. Meet at
Adams Electric at 1 PM. Car Pool fee is $1.00. Hike leader: Rich Burril at 717-225-9002.

May 20 Long Hike - About 14 .5 miles on the AT between Scott Farm Trail Work Center and Duncannon. This hike has two climbs, one about 750 feet and the other 1,000, with rewards of views of Sherman’s Creek and Duncannon from Hawk Rock. And it’s rumored that Bluebells will be in bloom! Meet at
Adams Electric Co. at 8:30AM. Hike will be on the strenuous side. Bring water, lunch and suitable footgear. Car Pool fee $5.00. Hike leader: Bernie Frick 717-843-6675.

May 26-28 Memorial Day Weekend at JPJ - Spend a day, or more, with friends doing your own thing, hike or just sit around and talk. A leisurely hike in the area will begin on Monday about 10:00 AM. The covered dish dinner will start at 1:30 PM. Call Tim Schmidt at (717) 235-5940 to coordinate the food that people will bring. 

May 27 Medium Hike - A Mason Dixon Trail Series Hike of 7.4 moderate miles of hiking, from the Pinchot Park Boat Mooring area to the Beaver Creek Bridge. This date and hike falls within PA. Hiking Trails Week, so double the reason to come out and hike. Meeting at
Adams Electric Parking Lot, (616 S off of US30) and departing at 9:00 A.M. sharp. Bring a lunch, water, hiking boats. Expect mud. Car Pool Fee: $2.50 Hike leader: Bill Anderson at 717-993-2828. 


ANNOUNCEMENTS:

EVERY THURSDAY A group meets to do trail work. Contact Jim Hooper for location and time (717-252-3784)

MAY 8  4-7 PM Public workshop to explore the possibly of creating a multi-use trail linking Hanover to Gettysburg. Held at the Adams County Emergency Management Training Facility, 230 Greenamyer Lane, and Gettysburg. Contact Gwen Loose at (717) 891-9967 for details.

JUNE 2 (Saturday) 8 AM The ATC headquarters in Harpers Ferry is celebrating its grand opening of the AT museum in conjunction with National Trails Day! Anyone interested in attending this event may contact Gwen Loose at (717) 891-9967 or Kim Jones at 717-637-7103, willowj@comcast.net. We plan to meet at 8 AM and carpool to HF, hike about 1-2 miles of the AT to the ATC HQ, attend the ceremony and then hike/explore HF in the afternoon. Hike distance depends on participants. Bring boots, water, lunch, car pool fee and park entrance fee (about $7 total).


SIGN UP: Mason Dixon hike leaders needed. An easy job - hikes are already planned out for you. Short, medium and long hikes, and easy to difficult terrains are available. Contact: Joyce Hooper at (717) 252-3784.
