All are welcome to come on out on a hike to see what the club is all about.

 

A welcome sheet is handed out at every hike.  This sheet has all you need to join and get on the mailing list.

NOVEMBER 4 A.T. Work Hike : The major effort of this work hike will be boundary painting and posting the ATC lands boundary. There is also some work required at the shelter. Bring boots, work gloves, water, lunch and a daypack. Meet at 8:30 am at the North End meeting place next to Rutter's Store. No Car Pool fee. Contact Jim Hooper at (717) 252-3784 if you have any questions.

NOVEMBER 11 SHORT/MEDIUM: A circular hike of 6 miles. We’ll go to Ridgewood Rd. extended onto Ore Bank Rd. This will take us to the Kreutz Creek Cemetery in Hallam Township. The return is via Pleasant Valley Rd. Mostly hard roads and two hill climbs. Meet at Boscov's East Parking lot (across from the Texas Roadhouse) at 1:30 PM. No Car Pool fee. NOVEMBER 11 LONG HIKE : Approx. 10 miles in Michaux State Forest on the A.T. Buck Ridge Trail, & Rock Scree Trail in Kings Gap. Minor elevation changes. Please bring good boots, lunch, & plenty of water. We will leave the west side meeting place (Adams Electric) at 8:00 a.m. Carpool fee $5.00. Leader: Jim McCoy, (717) 852-7570 or .

NOVEMBER 18 Turkey Hike & Dinner (Members Only): The Turkey hike will leave the cabin at 10:00 a.m. Bring good boots & water for an approx. 6-mile hike in rugged terrain. Hikers will return to the cabin by 1:30 p.m. for dinner. Mail your annual dues in advance to Bernie Frick (see announcement regarding dues) or be ready to pay at the cabin before the meal. Also check your calendars & be ready to sign up to lead hikes in 2008. REMEMBER, ALL MEMBERS MUST RESERVE FOR THE MEAL. Call Joan Fitzpatrick (717) 840-1101 or e-mail at . By Wednesday November 14 to RESERVE.

Please note: We are in need of volunteers to make the mash potatoes, pies and cakes, help with serving and cleanup. We also need a leader for the turkey hike. Please consider volunteering when you call or email to reserve.

NOVEMBER 25 LONG HIKE : Approx. 12 miles hiking on state game lands, a section of the Horse Shoe trail and through some nice areas along the Hammer Creek watershed including Kettle and Walnut run. There will be some small stream crossings, short climbs and rocky areas. Please bring good boots, lunch and water. Meet at Boscov's East Parking lot (across from the Texas Roadhouse) at 8:30 am. Carpool fee $ 6.00. Leader: Kim Herbst (717) 887-4462 & Skip Newcomer.

NOVEMBER 17 - MASON DIXON Trail System hike (7 miles) and meeting in North East Maryland. Please contact Jim Hooper at (717) 252-3784 for details.

Please Note: By motion of the Board of Directors, no club activities shall be posted in the club newsletter that are scheduled to occur opposite (at the same date/time) as a scheduled work trip. 

Dues reminder: In lieu of raising dues, we will continue with the 3 contribution levels in the hope that those able would contribute more and help eliminate the negative balance (as a general reminder, annual dues become payable as of October 1st). All three levels provide full membership, this is just one of many ways members can contribute to the club. Make your check payable to York Hiking Club for $10 for Hiker (base level), $15 for Trailblazer, $20 for Pathfinder, or more if you wish, and mail it to Bernie Frick or pay at JPJ before the Turkey Dinner.

* "If there are no objections within 10 days" refers to things like almost getting a hike kicked out of a park.

  From I-83 exit 16, take Queen St (PA-74) south for about 1 mile.  At Campbell Music, turn left onto Oak St.  Drive about a tenth of a mile and stop at the stop sign; do not turn right.  Drive straight ahead past the township building to the small building in the middle of the field.
