All are welcome to come on out on a hike to see what the club is all about.

 

A welcome sheet is handed out at every hike.  This sheet has all you need to join and get on the mailing list.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 5 – MEDIUM HIKE HIKE:

About 7.5 miles starting on the Turkey Hill Trail in Lancaster County, which has some ups and downs. Then through the Chestnut Grove Natural Area, down to the Enola Low Grade and back to the parking lot. Bring snacks and water.

Meeting location: Turkey Hill Nature Preserve Parking Lot, 2501 River Rd, Conestoga, PA 17516
Departure: 9:00. 
Carpooling option with preliminary call to Irina:
Boscov's East Parking (near Red Robin) off PA 24. Departure Time: 8:30 AM.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 12 - SHORT HIKE: 
Follow the Canadochly Creek from the Hooper farm to Native Lands county park. See the site of the last Susquehannock village. Hike is about 3 miles.

Meeting Location: 309 Bank Hill Rd, Wrightsville, Pa 17368 at 1:30 pm
Hike Leaders: Jim Hooper at or 717/951-6808 if you have any questions.

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 19 - LONG HIKE (10 miles): 
Shuttle hike in Michaux State Forest from Old Forge Picnic Grounds to Mont Alto State Park via Snowy Mountain. This will be on some less commonly used trails, so perhaps you’ll see some Michaux that you haven’t seen before. Bring snacks, water, lunch, and good hiking shoes.
Watch the weather and dress appropriately.

Meeting location: 1201 Woodberry Road parking in York at 8:00 AM or Mont Alto State Park at 9:00 AM

SUNDAY, DECEMBER 26 - MEDIUM HIKE:
After Christmas hike in Rocky Ridge Park. If the weather is good, we will attempt a longer perimeter hike. We can shorten the route depending on weather and the group needs. Bring water, snacks and sturdy hiking shoes.

Meeting location: First parking lot on the left as you go into Rocky Ridge.
Departure: 9:00 AM

ANNOUNCEMENTS: 

 

Board Member and Officer Openings: The club is in need of some members to take over some very important roles, with immediate openings for Activities Chair, Trails Chair, and Secretary. These roles are critical to the ongoing operation of the club. For more information you may contact Alan Noble, President or the outgoing chairmen, David Lukes (Activities) and Tom Morley (Trails).

Individuals who are willing to lead short hikes on Wednesdays area also wanted. If you would like to lead a Family Friendly hike on Saturday or Sunday please contact the monthly chairperson. A short hike is recommended. Contact David Lukes with any questions about leading hikes at

* "If there are no objections within 10 days" refers to things like almost getting a hike kicked out of a park.

A sheet is handed out to all New hikers at the parking lots before the hikes.

 

Our new place for meetings/events  is inside the York Township Recreation Building, directions as follows:

  From I-83 exit 16, take Queen St (PA-74) south for about 1 mile.  At Campbell Music, turn left onto Oak St.  Drive about a tenth of a mile and stop at the stop sign; do not turn right.  Drive straight ahead past the township building to the small building in the middle of the field.
