SATURDAY, JUNE 6, SHORT WALK (2 MILES), ALS Andy Bankowski Walk: Andy joined the hiking club in 2022, has led several hikes, and was diagnosed with ALS last month. Let’s support Andy by joining the Hershey ALS United Walk. This is a 2-mile fundraising walk. If interested, we could add some mileage at Lake Pinchot afterwards on the way back to York.
Meeting Time and Location: Check in at 11:00 AM, walk starts at 12:00 PM at Hershey Middle School.

SATURDAY, JUNE 6, MEDIUM HIKE (7 MILES), Turkey Hill Trail: Join us for a hike at the Turkey Hill Nature Preserve starting at the trailhead which is accessible from the first parking lot as you enter the Preserve. We will begin walking up the bluff through a wooded area which overlooks the Susquehanna River. Along the bottom of the back side of the bluff we will be walking along a stream, past a small pond, and following this with a hike up to Star Rock overlook.
From there we'll go down the bluff and follow a rail trail along the Susquehanna River back to the parking lots. The elevation changes are moderate but hiking poles and good hiking shoes would be advisable. Bring plenty of snacks and water. There should be some beautiful views of the Susquehanna River if the sun is out.
Meeting Time and Location: The hike will start promptly at 9:00 AM at the Turkey Hill trailhead, which is next to the first parking lot as you enter the Turkey Hill Nature Preserve. The trailhead is near the sign for the Nature Preserve.

SUNDAY, JUNE 7, SHORT HIKE (3 MILES), Sam Lewis Park: Enjoy the panoramic view of the Susquehanna River, Chiques Rock, Turkey Hill windmills, High Point, Hellam Hills and Rocky Ridge Park overlook under the high tension power lines. We’ll be hiking on the Hilltop Trail through the pine plantation with interesting rock formations. Hopefully, we will see wildflowers before exploring pine plantation and diverse hardwood forest. Dress for the weather, hiking poles optional, hiking boots recommended.
Meeting Time and Location: 1:00 PM at Sam Lewis State Park (6000 Mt. Pisgah Rd), Parking lot at main entrance. Directions: Route 30 E/W to the Wrightsville exit, onto COOL CREEK ROAD SOUTH, approximately 1.5 miles to Mt. Pisgah Road, turn right and follow to the LEFT entrance of the park.

SATURDAY, JUNE 13, LONG HIKE (10.7 MILES), Mason-Dixon Trail: This hike is the 10th in a series on the Mason-Dixon Trail. The hike will take us from the PA Fish Commission Boat Launch just south of Lock 15 to Cold Cabin Park. The first three-quarters of the trail is on country roads. It is a beautiful walk along Muddy Creek. The trail is mostly narrow with some rockiness. Leo Hebert will host a “Half-Way” cookout at his house in Delta after the hike.
Meeting Time and Location: Meet at Cold Cabin Park (35 Cold Cabin Rd) at 8:00. The hike starts at the PA Fish Commission Boat Launch parking area at 8:30.
Carpool Option: Meet at York County School of Technology (York Vo-Tech) at 7:15.

SUNDAY, JUNE 14, MEDIUM HIKE (7 MILES), Codorus State Park Ranger Trail: This moderate loop along the lake perimeter of the Codorus State Park offers beautiful greenery and lakeside views. Please note that the Horse Trail intersects with the Ranger Trail, so hikers should be mindful of horses and trail conditions. Participants should bring water, a snack, and hiking poles if preferred, though the trail has very few rocks.
Meeting Time and Location: 9:00 AM at the Ranger Trailhead on Sinsheim Rd. Directions: From York, take Route 216 West and turn right onto Sinsheim Rd. Continue past the main entrance to the boat ramp; the dirt parking lot is on the left about a quarter mile ahead. (If coming from the east, take Route
216/Blooming Grove Rd East and turn left onto Sinsheim Rd).

SATURDAY, JUNE 20, LONG HIKE (11.0 MILES), Mason-Dixon Trail: We will be completing Hike #11 on the Mason-Dixon Trail. This is a moderate level hike with a mix of trail and road walking. We start at Cold Cabin Park and end at Broad Creek Public Landing. Part of the hike traverses Peach Bottom Atomic Power Station Land.
Meeting Time and Location: Meet at Broad Creek Public Landing at 8:05 AM. Hike begins at Cold Cabin Park at 8:30 AM.

SATURDAY, JUNE 20, SHORT HIKE (4-MILES), Peters Mountain: Starting at Clarks Ferry Park and Ride off PA 147, we will hike up Peters Mountain on the Appalachian Trail to the Clarks Ferry Shelter and then take the blue trail back to the park and ride. This is a difficult hike. The climb up the mountain is steep with boulders we have to climb over near the top. Bring water, hiking or trail shoes, lunch, snacks, hiking poles, and dress for the weather. After the hike, plan
to go to the Duncannon Appalachian Trail Community Festival which goes from 2 - 8 PM.

SATURDAY, JUNE 20: 10 AM to 4 PM - Appalachian Trail Museum Arts & Culture Festival will be held at Pine Grove Furnace State Park, Furnace Stack Pavilion – just a few steps from the museum and the A.T. The festival is a chance to celebrate the A.T. community’s talents and creativity and will bring together authors, historians, storytellers, journalists, musicians, and artists. NEW THIS YEAR: “Show & Tell” Bring your A.T. gear inventions or adaptations and join a panel to discuss what it is and how you use it. “Open Mic” Share your A.T. talents through a reading, poetry, storytelling, or song of 3 minutes – more or less. The day will also feature a barbecue lunch, courtesy of the Earl Shaffer Foundation, and a non-alcoholic “Happy Hour” from 4-5 PM on the museum porch. The event is free, but donations are welcome for lunch. Parking is available next to the pavilion. The museum will be open from 9 AM-4PM. Information at manager@atmuseum.org.
SATURDAY, JUNE 20: 2 PM to 8 PM – Duncannon Appalachian Trail Community Festival will be held at the Market Street Square. Free admission, live music, food trucks, crafts, vendors, hiking clubs.
SATURDAY, JUNE 27, MEDIUM HIKE (7.5 MILES), Spring Valley Park: We will be circumnavigating the park. Lots of hills. Variety of scenery. Trekking poles are not a bad thought, given the terrain. We can sit down and have lunch there afterwards for anyone who wishes.
